      Northwestern Counseling & Support Services is seeking a School-Based Behavior Consultant to provide consultation on school wide and individualized behavior plans for students.

      Responsibilities include: - Assessment, creation, facilitation and implementation of therapeutic, educational and behavioral interventions for students within their schools and communities. - Actively making recommendations to providers for programming along with training, guiding and supporting educational and behavioral staff, families, home and community-based support providers in a variety of settings.

      The appropriate candidate will be able to implement functional behavior assessments and take these findings to create behavioral intervention plans for teachers, paraeducators and/or BI staff. Experience working with children needing ABA services a must, preferably experience with children with Emotional Disturbances. This candidate should also have knowledge of the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) model and be able to work with a interdisciplinary team to make recommendations for system wide and individual needs. Typical schedule is Monday-Friday, 8-4, allowing some flexibility with earlier start or later end times to accommodate school, home and staff meetings before or after school.

      • A Master’s degree in a relevant field with demonstrated excellence in behavioral assessment and treatment skills.
      • Knowledge of family systems, psychiatric, psychosocial and rehabilitative models of treatment.
      • Certification as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst or enrolled in an accredited Applied Behavioral Analysis program and receiving supervision from a BCBA.
      • The ability to complete functional behavioral assessments, including direct observation of students in school or home setting. • The skills to collect, organize, chart and interpret behavioral data.
      • The competencies to identify significant target behaviors and develop a Behavioral Plan.
      • The capability to provides direct behavioral counseling for consumers on both a scheduled and emergency basis.
